Help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – plants take carbon dioxide from the air during photosynthesis and contribute to carbon sequestration
Help to reduce soil erosion through bank stabilization and absorption of water
Help to reduce water management and treatment costs by removing nutrients

Help to reduce energy consumption in buildings – trees provide shade and windbreaks, green roofs reduce heat loss
