January 4th, PITT MEADOWS, B.C. – COHA-ACHO’s President, Dave Captein, announced today the appointment of Sheila Jones as the Alliance Director of COHA-ACHO.
Sheila Jones brings to COHA-ACHO experience from a distinguished career in management in Canada’s public service. At the time of her retirement, Jones was the Director of the Horticulture and Cross-Sectoral Division at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. “In that position Sheila made an important contribution to horticulture,” said Captein, “and we’re thrilled to have her energy and enthusiasm working for our sector again.” In her new role, Jones will work to build awareness of the ornamental sector of agriculture.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with government to demonstrate how this vital sector can contribute to the ongoing economic and environmental goals of Canada,” stated Jones.
Jones succeeds James Farrar who retired at the end of the year after four years in the role. Canada’s ornamental horticulture sector has a value in excess of $2.3 billion at farmgate which multiplies across the economy as the value-added impacts from landscape services are factored in.
